I was surpised that I had never really hearcd about it. One of Cage’s best performances.

Exactly. Plus, what the hell happened to Van Morrison? It’s like he’s gone off his rocker in the last few years. Him and Eric Clapton. Fuck those assholes.

Oh- and Van Morrison’s jumpsuit didn’t age well either.

I feel sorry for anyone who dismisses it as a kid’s film, they’re missing out on something special.

I’ll say again, for direction and general aesthetic, it’s the most Scorsesean Scorsese film

This word ‘underrated’ really bugs me and it depends on different audiences who enjoy different genres. The Age of Innocence was a 7.2 on IMDB and well-liked by the Ivory & Merchant crowd, but Marty’s gangster fans probably didn’t like it. I haven’t re-watched Bringing Out the Dead because it didn’t work for me. General audiences, fans of the original and Scorsese fans loved The Color of Money, so I don’t know why that’s here.
After Hours wasn’t widely released in theaters, but found a fanbase on HBO and word of mouth. (where I saw it)

Agreed. The King of Comedy has been thought highly of for a long time now. I saw it when I was 13 or 14 a year or so after it came out and thought it was weird because I didn’t understand any of the contexts. I watched it 10 or so years later and thought it was great. It’s still great and it’s a movie that shows you the real Jerry Lewis. And Pupkin’s joke about his mom getting arrested for going 50 in their garage makes me laugh every time.
