That’s a fair point but I’m familiar with the plot synopsis of the gambler and it seems to be a drama with gambling elements rather than a depiction of the experiences of actual gamblers.

I had a good laugh seeing the massively overrated Save the Tiger in here. Lolz

How did Jack Lemmon win an Oscar for this?

These are for the real film geeks, but each movie is fantastic:
Short Eyes
Born to Win
The Laughing Policeman
Save the Tiger
Payday
The Nickel Ride
Busting
Rancho Deluxe

Not only captures gambling/addiction, but the difficulties of finding your place in America. Pairs well with Two Lane Blacktop (another 70s flick).
Awesome list – Straight Time and Fat City are two other greats (although Fat City has kind’ve gone by the wayside now, it was popular on release).

I agree 100% that Cali Split is the best movie about gambling, but how can you make that statement without seeing The Gambler? Hhahahahah

Phase IV is a bonkers movie. The scene where the ant queen is on the balcony like Mussolini…
