Altman made another film in the ’70s that had this meandering narrative between multiple characters (A Wedding) to similar effect. The Player (1992) however sticks with me after many viewings and my appreciation for it grows with time. I found the Griffin Mill role played by Tim Robbins fascinating as his incipient psychopathy emerges. From the Touch of Evil opening shot to the final scene it is a delight to behold.
