I consider The Hitcher a thriller – one of the greatest of the genre – and not a horror flick, but any excuse people need to revisit it is fine by me.
Prince of Darkness is a forgotten gem, and there are a few on here I’ve never seen.
Ohhh, and checkout The Hidden. As mentioned, some bonkers chase/rampage scenes

Prince of Darkness is awesome and severely underrated. John Carpenter was untouchable from Dark Star to They Live. That is a hell of a filmography while I would also include In the Mouth of Madness in that list as that is his last great film.
