Way of the Gun is an underrated gengre gem. It’s MacQuarrie unfiltered, and you can see the fingerprints of that pulp writing even in his later studio bangers (Fallout). Unfortunately the film was mishandled on release and was marketed as more of a buddy action comedy, when in reality it’s rather grim and closer to a 70s genre flick.
A Bittersweet Life is a very good Korean genre flick.

City of Ghosts suffered from a weak story and slow pacing, but the visuals (esp. McElhone) made it interesting. The Cambodian who played Sok was awesome.

I agree while I think of The Proposition more as a Western than a crime film.
