It’s not in my top 5 MCU films either but honestly, Don’t Look Up a better film than a few of the MCU films that came out last year? And no love for Titane is wrong.

I give 2021 a pass only bc maybe some directors don’t want to make films just yet and wait until older people can safely go back to the theaters to watch their work. It’s an unsubstantiated theory of mine but I do know some movies like Damien Chazzelle’s Babylon was to have started production in 2020 but got delayed by year. Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon was supposed to film in March of 2020 but also got its production delayed by a year. I give 2021 a pass. I do have great expectations for this year though.

I liked NWH a lot but it’s honestly not even a Top 5 MCU film imo. If Winter Soldier, Iron Man, The Avengers, Infinity War, etc. never got nominated, I don’t think it’s fair that NWH should either. I understand it’s popular but I don’t think it’s that amazing (no pun intended).

I have a belief that since it’s the first BIG MCU film since either Endgame or Far From Home and that movie-going audiences were craving something truly worthwhile going to, that NWH got a lot more love that it probably would have had it been released before the pandemic. I think in a few years, the hype surrounding it will die down.

There’s certainly some gems that came out, but for all those folks that bemoan Summer blockbusters, if this is what Hollywood puts out instead because of pandemic delays, I’ll take a hard pass.

It would’ve at least made things more interesting. Plus, I don’t think comic book movies get a lot of credit. I love art films but I also love what Marvel has doing. Not everything they do is great but they’ve at least been consistent in at least giving audiences what they want but also to challenge them a bit.

It got what it deserved, the biggest box office gross. Best Picture =/= most popular
