Selecting several mediocre Morricone spaghetti west scores (as well as the good ones) indicates a lack of knowledge of Morricone’s vast catalogue. This list pretends to be comprehensive in its assessment but it clearly reveals the sheer ignorance of the list maker. This list is extremely mediocre in capturing the great diversity of Morricone’s very best work.

What does “weird avante-pop” have to do with “best?” A list of best is subjective and doesnt have to be representative. Not everything is great, or even good. Also, if you look at concert play lists by Morricone, they typically include the kind of music found in the article list. Perhaps you would advise the composer to dig deeper into his own back catalog.

All that the author of this article included is a spattering of Morricone’s works that are best known to mainstream audiences, and a lot of that stuff is thematically similar. He did hundreds of film scores, it is clear from this list that this author did not do much (if any) digging in his back catalog. As well as writing neo-romantic themes, Morricone did a lot of work in weird avante-pop and jazz as well as experiments with musique concrete and a lot of the territory people like Stockhausen, John Cage and others were mining at the time. A deeper listen to Morricone’s back catalog would reveal a lot of gems that this author is apparently oblivious too and present a much more well-rounded picture of what Morricone has done. This list is basically just the stuff you can find on any ‘best of’ Morricone comp.

IMHO your way looks trivial. respect, suggest, be calm and love the world. it would be nice to be fascinated by your list, but you have no arguments .. why your list should be better? They are just titles. please use arguments to enrich the discussion. otherwise you’re just flames and smoke.
