The 3rd person POV gave it a video game feel to it which undermined drama.

I would put the war films of Sam Fuller up there as the most immersive war films ever shot. Chock full of all little minor details and annoyances of life as infantry “on the line” give them a lived in feel that has few equals. (Steel Helmet, The Big Red One being standouts).

So I wouldn’t call it one of the most immersive movies of all time.
