I respect what Jonson wanted to do with Last Jedi but I felt he missed the mark and did it poorly. Star Wars already made clear the force could come from anywhere, and the philosophy was handled poorly. ESB did the subversion better

Don’t necessarily agree with the list. Solo is, kind of adds nothing. OT and RO are the best put togather. Prequels are an acquired taste. They are thematically dense, very unconventional films, and the closest Star Wars got to 30s serials in terms of style, which having their own air to them. I don’t see them as complete with TCW.

Sequels are more like modern blockbuster films you get. I feel like it does play too safe, I agree with that, even The Last Jedi, which borrows a lot of things from TESB, and the other films and aren’t aesthetically as bold, although attractive. TROS is the worst. Overall, I feel like the ST is the biggest letdown by not continuing the story effectively. No problem with Luke’s characterisation, welcome new change, but the overall trilogy feels like a big reset button.

Watch the Despecialized fanedits of the original trilogy and the HAL9000 fanedits of the prequels.

The Disney efforts are hollow trash intentionally designed to tank the franchise and can be comfortably ignored.
