Spider is an absolute smasher (can’t miss with Ralph Fiennes), top 5 of Cronenberg’s 21st century? For sure. But I wouldn’t dare put it above The Fly, Videodrome, Crash or Existenz.
Have you seen Crimes of the Future? (The ‘22, the old one was fkn terrible)

I was massively impressed with Spider. I think it could well be his best film. I need to watch it again.

For straight rewatchability – Suspects and Confidential are way higher.
Ripley real good tho

Always happy to see some love for A History of Violence. It’s deceptively simple on the first watch but the third time around, I was convinced it’s Cronenberg’s masterpiece, and Viggo Mortensen’s greatest performance.
Layers under layers. Identity, nature vs nurture, what influences us, what a wholesome life really is, who deserves that type of life, what makes a hero, what makes a villain, can we love someone knowing them entirely? Should we know the ones we love entirely? Is ignorance bliss?
Sorry that was a bit of an essay but this film really hits me hard

I know it’s popular but there is a lot of build up before the big action scenes which are professionally done but not entertaining.

couldn't disagree more but maybe that's just me – I've literally seen it hundreds of times and know lots of people who have seen it tons (that aren't even movie geek types)

I would replace it with Thief or Collateral.
