It takes a great actor to play a thoroughly unlikable character yet still command the screen.

Michelle Williams is fine enough in Blue Valentine, but Gosling absolutely steals the show
Wendy & Lucy would be the better option

Thanks for not including Toni Collette’s shrieking performance in Hereditary

Marion Cotillard – 2 Days 1 Night
Michelle Williams – Blue Valentine is the obvious choice, but lots to choose from including Wendy & Lucy and Take This Waltz (criminally underrated)

Meh…her role is too small to be on list such as this. I’d rather put Marion Cotillard for ‘La Vie En Rose’ or ‘The Immigrant’.

Otherwise, this is a good list.

Besides that I would mention the one that to me is the greatest female perfomance of the 21st century, Jeanne Moreau’s masterclass in One Day You’ll Understand (2008) as well as Carla Ribas in Alice’s House (2007)
