HR Geiger and other artists, and actual author/creator of dune, are the true visionaries, literally visually describing and creating the visuals that later influenced things. This is like giving credit to mick Jagger for Keith Richards guitar playing, or George Martin for John Lennon’s songwriting.

There is no DUNE by Jodorowsky. It did not influence anyone.
This is conjecture of the highest order.
Jodorowsky also, did not discover Dan O’Bannon, HR Giger, Douglas Trumbull, Mobeius, etc. These artist were well known.

What about “The Fifth Element” ? The Moebius design certainly harkens back to Jodorowsky as well. The influences in Beeson’s work, envisioned through Moebius, look like they were pulled almost directly from the design of Dune.

This and Superman Lives are quite remarkable films that were never made, but went on to influence big things.

Jodorowsky’s Dune is a silent domino effect of what our general Science Fiction film landscape came to be. Fantastic. :]

Alien was inspired by this Jodorowsky? I don’t think so. Alien is a remake of, It! The Terror From Beyond Space -1958. Watch it and you’ll see. Dan O’Bannon, who worked for Jodorowsky, wrote the screenplay for Alien. That’s the only connection that I know of.
