The inverse was actually largely true. For early practicioners of cinema, Georges Melies and the works of Edison’s studio among many others, cinema was the next logical step for illusionists and stage magicians, and they strove to bring visual impossibilities to a thrill-seeking audience. Otherwise, this is a very satisfying list.
