** & Last Night in Soho is fantastic for anyone remotely interested in sixties British singers & that whole milieu … (Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, etc.) … It’s lukewarm reception reflects the fact that most E Wright fans weren’t attuned to that whole element & were thusly probably pretty mystified … But I am interested in that stuff & found that to be a very pleasurable and fascinating outing …

here’s my list
(2020) FAT MAN just might be the strangest Christmas film ever, almost Neo-Noir…Mrs. Claus is the unflappable Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Walton Goggins a hitman, and the US government subsidizes Mel Gibson’s gun toting Santa, what’s not to love?
(2020) SPREE bloody fucking hysterical AND a wonderful social commentary on the addiction of having a web presence and followers
(2020) THE BLOCK ISLAND SOUND totally under-rated gem…one of the best sci-fi/horror films i’ve seen in years
(2020) THE STYLIST touché…a socially awkward, friendless hair stylist lives alone in a huge house with her aging dog Pepper and a secret basement filled with wigs…saturated colors…a soundtrack that leads and lingers…character study of an orphaned serial killer…sad, gory, and heart-breaking
(2021) THE SECRET OF SINCHANEE wonderful winter horror…all the flashbacks take place at Christmas time…multi-layered script with gorgeous cinematography…cast of unknowns well directed by the writer/director/star…tip my hat to you, Mr. Grayhm
(2021) WILLY’S WONDERLAND gory, gruesome and a helluva hoot…Nic Cage says NOTHING…bloody brilliant
(2022) CHRISTMAS BLOODY CHRISTMAS badass metal chick meets a terminator Santa…hahahahaha…entire town seemed to have been populated w/ long haired metal heads
(2022) GLORIOUS Lovecraftian…unexpected surprise…engaging performance from Ryan Kwanten and who doesn’t love JK Simmons voice? hidden gem of 2022
(2022) SOMETHING IN THE DIRT (5.9) WTF? part fascinating, part frustrating, but I love Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead so I’ll visit it again, and again, and then figure it out BUT I had fun on the journey
(2022) UNWELCOME fun and totally unexpected…I dig folk horror and most anything Irish so this was a win-win…the angry bully family scenes went on too long BUT I loved the “red caps” old school fx

BONUS: two films that came out this year that I really liked
(2023) THE PASSENGER Kyle Gallner continues to impress…this is a film with some rough spots, but it will linger and resonate
(2023) IT’S A WONDERFUL KNIFE as you have probably already surmised I have a weakness Christmas horror, in this case it may have been the Prosecco and gummy, but I enjoyed myself and really dug the female lead…Justin Long’s character was super creepy…he continues to surprise me

At 71 minutes long, it doesn’t overstay its welcome at all

Bullett Train won’t become a cult classic, ever, and Malignant already is (so good call).
I’d add Inifinty Pool and Stars at Noon

Do you mean he’s Jewish….or Semitic? 🙂 The problem that was raised was in relation to something called “Semitism”, not Jewishness – so do you mean that Ken Platt is a Semite, or a Jew? In any case, regardless the point is that when you openly say that you hate a person who happens to be a Jew (and who sucks not that that has anything to do with his being a Jew lol), as Stevie did and “wish that he would f*** off”…and then accuse the next person of being antagonistic toward “Semites” – without even having a clue about what that word means – purely because they suggested that a (possibly) Jewish person might possibly be biased towards other Jews, without being hateful, angry or foul-mouthed at all – this is called being brainless, hypocritical, and making yourself look horribly confused.
