That surprises me. There were also sequels to Starship Troopers. It is possible that the estate has loosened its grip over Heinlein’s material. My communication with the attorney was quite some years ago, so things may have changed.

They were so angry at being lied to (apparently, they were told that the film would be faithful to the book) that they shut off all possibility of other Heinlein-based films. I know this because I tried to option one of Heinlein’s short stories, and had a tension-filled back-and-forth with the attorney for the estate, who told me exactly this. 🙁
