PTA must own a warehouse full of 1970’s clothing. He seems obsessed with this era. Just a string of disjointed quirky scenes and hip cameos and a really homely leading lady showing off her pokies. I was around Gary’s age in 1973 (when PTA was 3) going through this clumsy period trying to rub up against musk-scented foxy chicks and I didn’t connect at all with this film. Well at least it wasn’t as bad as Inherent Vice, but nothing is.

None of the others are up to par, and several of them are truly abysmal.

It would have been nice if they had split into 3 movies like they did with Lord of the Rings since the novel is actually split into 3 book or at least created a 3 hour movie to add a more key scenes from the book that would have fleshed out the story more.

There was barely anything to nominate this year.

I’m Japanese
but they sounded foreign
The words they use
to explain their feeling
Because of the constricted acting
and the forced writing

I take it you haven’t read the book, let alone Dune Messiah? The whole arc for Paul is to beware of heroes and stop idolizing them

But I just wish old Henry had more recognition, as another great western. Hell, I think it’s even a superior film. Also, Tim Blake’s performance is better imo than the one from Benedict C. Oh well, life is not fair

Like the Lord of the Rings his movie will be fully judged when the second part comes out in a few years. At minimal Dune should be switched with The Power of the Dog which is the better movie that is completed work.

Where’s Red Rocket and Macbeth?
