I love The Thing but come on! It ends on an ambiguous note but not one that’s disturbing, esp compared to other John Carpenter film endings (In the Mouth of Madness, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, and Halloween all end more disturbingly, wouldn’t ya say!?).

One of the most disturbing ending to a horror flick I can think of off the top of my head is the Thai film ‘Shutter’ from 2004. A real skin crawler.
