Lynch was still warming up with Wild at Heart. The first Twin Peaks television series gave him the opportunity to refine his ideas, his style and his working methods; gathering speed with Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and then onto the truly subversive cinematic antics of Lost Highway, [The Straight Story,] Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire (his L.A. trilogy?) as well as the magnificent insanity of the final Twin Peaks series.
