Right, I love Koyaanisqatsi and the other two; no story, no philosophical questions, just let the music and images do their work, a good artist-filmmaker can pull off wonders.

Yes, I agree. My idea of non-narrative films are Baraka, Samsara and Koyaanisqatsi. Just soak in the visuals.

Hi, yes if you aren’t in the mood for a non-narrative film (having the patience to spend time with it) they just don’t work. It’s the same with anything by Joyce, Verdi, Picasso, etc.

Sometimes I feel like immersing myself in Antonioni or Malick but at other times I’d rather be told a story by John Huston or Woody Allen.

Yes, The Turin Horse or any other movies by Bela Tarr (Satantango or Werckmeister Harmonies) but the author of this piece states in the opening paragraph that those films are more advanced than the titles on the list.

I’m surprised The Turin Horse ain’t on this list.

I did try to enjoy it. I just watched an interesting slow film called The Bad Batch(2017). It was beautifully filmed and had potential, but wasn’t written well enough for me. Jason Momoa was rather good with the material he had to work with. The director definitely dug Alejandro Jodorowsky.

Sorry Giorgio but I love Gerry. I also love The Mirror, La Cienaga, and L’Avventura. I own copies of Gerry and L’Avventura as well as 24 Frames which I hope to watch before the end of the year.

I like slow-core cinema. Not all of it works but I appreciate the fact that it is more about visual storytelling and less plotting and dialogue in favor of the image. Plus, I’m convinced that if someone kidnaps Michael Bay and have him tied to a chair ala A Clockwork Orange where he’s forced to watch Satantango. His head will explode. *evil laugh*
